Ireland Air Ambulance will be the 17th Independant Air Ambulance Service operating
in the UK and Ireland.
Despite the unshakable knowledge that these services are vital, they are run
by professionals BUT funded by a mixture of
Charitable Donations and Corporate Funding. There is no service of this kind
on the island of Ireland.
But that is about to change . . . . . . . . with your help!!
This emergency service will be operating 365 days a year. Not only will there
be a fully trained Trauma doctor and Emergency
Trauma paramedic on board this fully equipped emergeny medical helicopter,
they will also have the information available to
assess which is the best hospital to take the patient to that is best suited
to dealing with that type if injury, whether it be a head,
spinal or limb or other.
From a 999 call the Air Ambulance will be tasked, airborne and en route in
under 3 minutes!
The service will cost approximateley £2.5 million per annum.
Quay Vipers MCC have recognised the importance of such a valuable resource
in the province and therefore decided
to make this appeal an annual event to assist in the continuous costs of providing
this service. The Kells to Kells ride out is the
first of many Air Ambulance fundraising events the club will be organising
throughout 2008. Adelaide
Insurance Services
have kindly donated £200 to start the appeal off as they are the major
sponsors of this year's Kells Road Races.
